In the past several years I have become increasingly drawn to images of people in situations, experiencing daily life. There is a story to be told, but it’s best when some aspects of it are left for the viewer to write.
The strength of my work lies in the composition. If an artist does not build a solid foundation for the painting, it will never be successful. The composition is that foundation.
Value structure is what defines the composition regardless of color. Masses of dark and light alone can tell the story and convey the emotion.
The wonder of creating art is the evolutionary process, and it’s best just to follow where it leads without thinking too hard about it.
